Now to further explain Naadam, is indeed the embodiment of the Mongol’s tradition, culture, history and the way of thinking from long ago. The Naadam can be traced back to the 13th century where it has its origin in activities, such as archery, horse riding and wrestling that served as a way to train soldiers for battle. It is also locally termed "the three games of men" of which are archery, horse racing and wrestling.

“The three games of men” was a traditional ceremony held to celebrate the coronation of Genghis Khan. Today, it formally commemorates the 1921 Revolution when Mongolia declared itself independent of China.

Wrestling: The prime game of “The three games of men”. A total of 512 or 1024 wrestlers meet in a single-elimination tournament that lasts nine or ten rounds. Mongolian traditional wrestling is an untimed competition in which wrestlers lose if they touch the ground with any part of their body other than their feet or hands.

Archery: Archery was the part of Mongols’ everyday life back in the 13th century. Every men and even women were adept archers. According to the Secret History of the Mongols, Yesunge Mergen is said to have shot arrows the farthest at 520 meters. As a proof, this remark was sculptured on a rock.

Horse racing: The horse racing continues for two days and approximately 2400 horses, 26000 horses including the Provinces, race at a 15 – 30 km distance.
