Are you an ornithologist? Or perhaps do you simply enjoy bird-watching? Then for your delight, the avifauna of Mongolia include a total of 427 species, abounding in waterfowl, waders, raptors and small passerines. The wetlands of northeastern Mongolia are the home to various species of nesting (and endangered) cranes, not to mention many species of geese, ducks and other waterfowl. This tour is dedicated to bird related activities. Go on journey with us and capture the scenes of endangered and distinctive birds in Mongolia! There are a total of 437 to 502 species of birds, of which 30 are globally threatened species. Birds vary depending on their habitats. For instance, birds in the fields are usually pale gray, spotted, striped or beige with a long neck or legs while the birds in the desert are often tan-colored with small bodies. We also prepared a few non-bird related activities for sightseeing and a breather.

Day 1: Upon your arrival, we will pick you up at the airport and drive you to the hotel. A brief tour of the city, including the Chinggis Square and the National Museum of Mongolian History, and a meal awaits you. Spend the night in the hotel. (L+D)

Day 2: Our first stop is the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. This is a biodiverse, historic and a cultural heritage with astonishing natural features, thus it naturally draws the wildlife of which many are birds. While we observe the birds, visit the attractions in the site. Starting from the Aryabal Buddhist Meditation Center to the Ovoo and the Turtle Rock, visit a nomadic family and have your very first Mongolian cuisine. Spend the night in a tourist camp. (B+L+D = Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner)

Day 3: Our next highlighted destination for birding is the Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve. This is a blessing shelter to near threatened or endangered species, including mountain sheep, marmots, wolves, vultures and lammergeiers. If you are lucky enough, the Siberian white cranes /critically endangered/, white-naped cranes /vulnerable/ and hooded cranes /vulnerable/ supposedly visits the lakes around the sight. Ancient historical sites, such as the Undur Dov, ruins of a city from the 13th century, burial mounds and even Kurgan stelaes can be spotted. Spend the nighttime in a tourist camp. (B+L+D)

Day 4: For the closure activities, return to Ulaanbaatar and view the city from the Zaisan Memorial hill and enjoy the Tumen-Ekh ensemble, featuring traditional music, song, dance and contortion. Rest in the hotel. (B+L+D)

Road conditions

The vast majority of Mongolia's official road network are simple cross-country tracks. Therefore, tours to rural areas are made on unmaintained roads. Nevertheless, main roads connecting the center of Provinces have network of surfaced roads



Ger is a portable, round tent covered with skins or felt and used as a dwelling by nomads in the steppes. Individual gers are simple, cozy and comfortable, usually kitted out with two, three or four wooden beds with bedding, table and chairs. Tourists generally stay in Ger camps with a choice of Felt Ger, Wooden house or Block Ger. Most Ger camps are equipped with a toilet and shower block and have electricity running from a central generator



Mongolian cuisine is a staple food in Mongolia tours, however, Asian & Europian cuisine is also served at your request. A full-course meal of breakfast, lunch and dinner is served throughout the tour. Takeout meal is also prepared for long-distance touring


Baggage allowance

The baggage allowance vary per airline and depend on the class, type of ticket and flight destination. Business class flights generally have baggage allowance of 32kg, while economy class flights have 20 kg and local flights have 10 kg. Hence a maximum weight of 20 kg baggage is recommended
